Showboat Buys Land for Parking Lot

ATLANTIC CITY, New Jersey – As reported by the Press of Atlantic City: "The owners of the Showboat Casino-Hotel are buying another piece of the Uptown Urban Renewal Tract to build a new parking garage - and hope to pick up yet another chunk of the long-vacant land soon so they can turn it into yet another 500 hotel rooms.

"Mayor Lorenzo Langford gave the first hint of the upcoming transaction Wednesday in his annual State of the City preview to the Metropolitan Business & Citizens Association. The mayor touched briefly on the sale as part of a list of his goals for the new year, a list that included the mayor's own pet project in the block next to the land Showboat is buying.

"Officials from Harrah's Entertainment, Showboat's owner, confirmed Wednesday that they're close to finishing the purchase of the first parcel from the Atlantic City Housing Authority - about 4.2 acres fronting on Pacific Avenue, between New Jersey and Delaware avenues…"
