Seneca Nation records subpoenaed9 March 2007NEW YORK – As reported by the Buffalo News: "The federal agency that oversees regulation of Native American casinos confirmed Thursday that it had issued a subpoena demanding that the Seneca Nation of Indians turn over records in an ongoing investigation about gambling revenues. "Sources said federal investigators came here two weeks ago and asked about the $6,000 payout each Seneca received this year from the nation's casinos in Niagara Falls and Salamanca. "The Buffalo News disclosed in July that the Senecas are avoiding millions of dollars in federal taxes on those payouts and have not filed a plan for distributing gambling revenues as required by federal law. "Joseph M. Valandra, chief of staff for the National Indian Gaming Commission in Washington, D.C., said the Senecas had refused requests for documents related to money turned over to the Senecas by the two casinos…"
