Seminole Tribe To Manage Tampa Gaming Facility

30 May 2000

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., May 27 (Press Release) -- Today, the Seminole Tribe of Florida assumed management control of Seminole Indian Casino - Tampa, in Tampa, Fla.

Since opening in 1982, the Seminole Tribe's Tampa gaming facility on North Orient Road has been managed by an independent gaming management company. However, the Tribal Council of the Seminole Tribe of Florida voted last month not to renew its contract with Pan American. This is the fourth Seminole- owned gaming facility out of five in Florida that the Tribe is now managing. The other Tribal gaming facilities are located in Hollywood, Brighton, Immokalee and Coconut Creek.

``Pan American has done a terrific job,'' said Seminole Tribal Chairman James E. Billie. ``However, we believe that the time is right for us to run our own operations and keep the profits within the Tribe.''

Seminole Indian Casino - Tampa, located on the Tribe's Tampa reservation, is open 24 hours a day and offers guests a large selection of technologic-aid devices, high-stakes bingo and low-stakes poker. The Tribe's Sheraton Four Points Inn and the Cypress Landing Restaurant are conveniently located nearby.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida, headquartered in Hollywood, Fla., has five reservations with approximately 2,500 tribal members throughout the state. A pioneer in Indian gaming, the Tribe opened the country's first large-stakes bingo hall in 1979. Revenue from its gaming activities and other investments pay for tribal members' education, health care, housing and other member services, as well as environmental restoration and economic development.
