Scratch-Off Game Rubs Veteran Wrong Way

CONNECTICUT – As reported by the New York Post -- A Connecticut veteran says a new instant lottery scratch-off game is `rubbing him the wrong way' because it forces gamblers to desecrate a likeness of the U.S. flag - something he can't believe the state would allow after the Sept. 11 attacks.

"`I hate to destroy even a facsimile of the American flag,' Roger Arsego, 59, who owns Grumpy's deli in the town of Torrington, Conn., told The Post.

"…`You have to destroy the Stars and Stripes in order to win the cash."

"The $1 lottery game, dubbed the `Star-Spangled Doubler,' features large, white stars, red and blue stripes and the head of a bald eagle.

"…To see if they've won the $1,776 jackpot, players have to scratch off an Old Glory design…"
