Scientific Games Moves to Nasdaq29 January 2002NEW YORK –(Press Release) -- Jan. 29, 2002 -- Scientific Games Corporation (previously Amex: SGM) has announced that it will move to the Nasdaq Stock Market beginning on January 29, 2002 and the new trading symbol is SGMS. Lorne Weil, Chairman and CEO of Scientific Games said, ``Now that we are approaching $500 million in sales, we believe that Nasdaq will give us more visibility which should result in a valuation more in keeping with our true business prospects.'' Mr. Weil continued, ``We have already announced several significant new contracts since our third quarter report and we hope to win a few more during 2002 resulting in notable increases to both our top line and earnings. We should benefit from several emerging trends, including the desire of states to decrease deficits without increasing taxes. Lotteries meet this need and, as we have shown, lotteries can be implemented quickly. ``Other growth drivers are the Requests for Proposals for on-line lotteries being issued this year by several jurisdictions both here and abroad, the development of new instant games, and greater demand for our SciScan(TM) validation terminals in a quest for greater game security as well as the new legislation being passed enabling pari-mutuel wagering on the Internet. These factors should contribute to a great year for Scientific Games.'' Wick Simmons, Chairman and CEO of the Nasdaq Stock Market said, ``We welcome Scientific Games to the world's most actively traded stock market. Scientific Games and Nasdaq share the same passion for excellence and innovation that has fostered the growth of America's future.'' Scientific Games Corporation, formerly Autotote Corporation, is the leading integrated supplier of instant tickets, systems and services to lotteries, and the leading supplier of wagering systems and services to pari-mutuel operators. It is also a licensed pari-mutuel gaming operator in Connecticut and the Netherlands. Scientific Games is also a major supplier of prepaid phone cards to telephone companies. Scientific Games' customers are in the United States and more than 60 other countries. |
