Scientific Games, Cantor Index Form Global Joint Venture28 July 2004NEW YORK – (PRESS RELEASE) -- Scientific Games Corporation (Nasdaq: SGMS) and Cantor Index LLC announced the formation of a global joint venture to implement and market new, proprietary pari-mutuel bets. Cantor Index has developed new forms of pari-mutuel wagering and Scientific Games Racing will create the bet software and write the code enabling it to run on tote systems worldwide. "We are very enthusiastic about this opportunity to offer horse racing fans an entirely new way to place wagers," said Scientific Games Chairman and CEO Lorne Weil. "These innovative bets bring a whole new level of excitement to the Sport of Kings and we have great expectations for their eventual success." The first bet is expected to be a variation of the traditional Pick Six bet when patrons pick winners in a pre-determined set of six races. With the new bet, fans can pick winners for any set of six (or other number of) races. The parties said the introduction of the new bets will be dependent upon regulatory approval. Lee Amaitis, President and CEO of Cantor Index, said, "We are excited to be working with Scientific Games, one of the leading totalisator companies in the world. We believe that content, in this case the type of betting option, is fundamentally important to the future of horse racing. The more fun and interesting the wager, the more likely fans will return again and again."
