Royal Sport Offers $500,000 for Curse Contract17 March 2005MASSACHUSETTS – As reported by the Boston Herald: 'An online casino is prepared to pay more than $500,000 this spring when the contract that started the Curse of the Bambino is auctioned off in New York. "Royal Sport yesterday said it plans to submit the winning bid June 10 at Sotheby's for the 1919 document selling Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees for $100,000. "…The casino intends to give the Red Sox the contract - `easily the most important sports document in history,' according to the auction house - to dispose of in order to officially end the curse the Sox broke last year. "…The 11-by-14-inch contract, printed on onion-skin legal paper, belongs to Rhode Island philanthropist Alan Feinstein, who plans to donate the proceeds to selected world-hunger organizations…"
