Route 66 Casino Opens8 September 2003NEVADA – (Press Release) -- Nevada Gold & Casinos, Inc. announced the grand opening of the Route 66 Casino, located 11 miles west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Route 66 Casino opened Thursday night September 4th, to a packed house estimated to be in excess of 10,000 people. Nevada Gold participates in the gaming device win through its ownership in the Route 66 Casino, LLC, a joint venture between Nevada Gold and American Heritage, Inc. (d/b/a The Gillmann Group). Route 66 Casinos, LLC, is 51% owned by Nevada Gold & Casinos and 49% by The Gillmann Group. The casino is owned by the Laguna Development Corporation, a federally chartered corporation wholly owned by the Pueblo of Laguna, the second largest pueblo in New Mexico. Visitors walk over a giant map of Route 66 as they enter the front doors. The theme extends to the casino with hand-painted murals, interior facades, furniture and custom carpet designed to look like a highway, featuring images of Route 66 postcards, street signs and locations along the famous route. The new facility is approximately 165,000 square feet and contains 1,250 slot machines, 20 table games, a bingo hall with 750 seats, a 2,800-seat special events venue, a cabaret lounge and multiple food, beverage, and retail outlets. Nevada Gold & Casinos, Inc. of Houston, Texas is a developer of gaming properties, and has real estate interests in Colorado, California, and Nevada. UWN owns a 43% interest in The Isle of Capri-Black Hawk LLC, which owns Isle of Capri Casino, a 237-room hotel/casino and Colorado Central Station Casino (both located in Black Hawk, Colorado about 35 miles west of Denver) and Colorado Grande Casino, located in Cripple Creek, Colorado. The LLC is a joint venture with Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc. (Nasdaq: ISLE). UWN has 69% ownership of Dry Creek Casino, LLC, which is assisting the Dry Creek Rancheria Band of Pomo Indians with their River Rock Casino, Alexander Valley, Sonoma County, California (about 70 miles north of San Francisco in the California wine country). Also, UWN has 51% ownership of Route 66 Casinos, LLC, which assisted the Pueblo of Laguna in the development of the Route 66 Casino 11 miles west of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company was selected and is in final negotiations to develop and operate a casino for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation on their property in Tulsa, Oklahoma. |
