Rosemont Casino Fight To Stay in Cook County Courts5 October 2000ROSEMONT, ILLINOIS – Oct. 5, 2000 – As reported by The Chicago-Sun Times: "…The Illinois Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will not hear a Lake County gambling group's request to move the case to Lake from Cook County. "…William Quinlan, an attorney representing Rosemont, said the village planned to file a motion late Wednesday asking the state Supreme Court to move the case quickly. The goal, he said, is to be before a Cook County judge prior to Oct. 17--the date the Illinois Gaming Board wants to consider Emerald Casino's application to move its defunct casino license to Rosemont. "Rosemont also planned to ask the court to dismiss Lake County Riverboat LP's motion to hold the gaming board in contempt if it votes on Emerald. "…The Lake County investors filed suit a year ago, claiming Illinois legislators approved an unconstitutional law that gives only Emerald the right to operate a Cook County casino. The Lake County group wants the license so it can have a casino in the Fox Lake area.." |
