Reno Cashes in on Holiday Weekend

RENO, Nevada – As reported by KOLO TV: "It was a very successful weekend for Reno casinos, as most were sold out from Thursday through Sunday.

"Valentine's Day falling on the Friday before President's Day weekend made for a great combination.

"Visitors were here, of course, for the gambling and the shows.

"…Tourists like Arlene Murray came here to gamble, and she made out pretty well, winning $1,300 on the machines. That kept her busy while waiting to see Gordie Brown's sold-out show.

"…In fact, most of the shows in town were sell-outs. Publicists say they were happy, considering the weather forecast for Reno was cloudy with a possible storm on the way, and most of their guests were coming from Northern California.

"…Typically, the Presidents' Day weekend is a springboard of what's to come over the next several months. A busy weekend usually means casinos will be busy up until the summer tourism season…"
