Rancho Mesquite Casino to Open

23 November 1996

Gambling is soon to arrive at the Rancho Mesquite Holiday Inn, the region's newest resort property. The 4,500-square-foot casino, located just off interstate 15 in Nevada, will open in late December and will have 15 table games and 500 table slot machines. It will sport a southwestern design motif, just as the hotel and other facilities do. The 4-floor, 215-room hotel opened September 1 and features two lounges, four restaurants, an outdoor pool, two bedroom suites, and a spa.

Expect to have a great time but don't expect high-end plays like baccarat to be in the mix.

"We will try to be more of a locals-oriented casino," said Walter Leaf, a spokesman for Rancho Mesquite Holiday Inn.

Theodore Lee, who owns the property, chose not to divulge the cost of the hotel or casino.

"There are people that want you to know how much money they're spending and those that don't want you to know," Leaf said. "Ted's the kind of guy that doesn't want you to know."
