Poll: Majority of South Dakotans Favor Video Lottery

SIOUX FALLS, South Dakota – Nov. 2, 2000 – As reported by the Argus Leader: "South Dakotans across the states want to keep video lottery -- except in Minnehaha County, were the race is too close to call, according to a poll released Wednesday by KELO-TV.

"Fifty-three percent of the 506 South Dakotans surveyed Oct. 19-26 say they will vote against an amendment to repeal video lottery. Forty-one percent want to abolish the game, and 7 percent are undecided.

"…Forty-two percent of the respondents said they thought the social costs of the video lottery outweigh its economic benefits, while 41 percent disagreed and 18 percent didn't know."
