Playnet Inc. Announces Plans for Online Gaming12 May 2000BEDFORD, Texas--(Press Release)--May 11, 2000--Playnet Inc. (Playnet) has released its plans for bringing massively multiplayer games to the Internet. The company has created an in-house software development division, Cornered Rat Software (www.corneredrat.com), responsible for the creation of massively multiplayer online games and related Internet technologies. It has also announced an aggressive launch into online entertainment with its upcoming release of playnet.com (www.playnet.com), a gaming, entertainment and information destination slated for a summer 2000 rollout. Cornered Rat Software is leveraging leading edge, multiple-platform proprietary technologies in the creation of its multiplayer games, which exceed industry standards in graphics, physics, Internet connectivity and game playability. Its first massively multi-player Internet product, "World War II Online™", a WW II combat simulation and strategy game, is currently in development. "World War II Online™" will be simultaneously released for Open Beta testing both PC and Mac platforms in the third quarter of 2000. Playnet's Global Games (G2) Network™ initiative will deliver a web-based multi-player gaming service and interactive entertainment destination site, which will offer automated launching and seamless operation of games and related entertainment services in a variety of types and formats. The site will include many popular community-building features such as instant messaging, file transfers between players, easy-to-use private chat system, and a voice chat system all presented in a simple and intuitive user interface. A goal of the service's design is to allow easy up selling from free classic card and board games to subscription services with contests, tournaments, community services for multiplayer games, and premium pay-to-play massively multiplayer games with persistent 3D game worlds. Playnet.com will be launched for public access summer of 2000. |
