Playboy's Hefner: Waiting for 'Right' Las Vegas Casino Deal

26 September 2001

LAS VEGAS, Nevada –- Playboy Enterprises Chairwoman and Chief Executive Christie Hefner said her company would be interested in entering the Las Vegas casino market if the right deal is presented to the company.

"If a deal comes along under the right circumstances, we would consider it," Hefner said.

She declined to say if the company is currently in such negotiations. Playboy has long been rumored to be interested in Las Vegas casino opportunities.

"We don't talk about deals until they are actually done deals," she said.

Playboy held a 15 percent interest in a casino on Rhodes, a Greek island in the Mediterranean Sea, but sold its interest in 1998.

Playboy Online, a subsidiary of Playboy Enterprises, is part-owner of a number of online wagering businesses.
