PinnacleSports.com Releases 2006 NBA Odds24 June 2005WILLEMSTAD, Curacao – (PRESS RELEASE) -- With the 2005 NBA champions having just been crowned, leading online sportsbook PinnacleSports.com has released odds on all 30 NBA teams winning next year's championship. Not surprisingly, this year's two finalists and the Shaq-led Miami Heat are the favorites to contend for the 2006 title according to the oddsmakers. PinnacleSports.com has made Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs the early favorite to capture next year's championship at 5/2 odds (i.e., win $5 for every $2 bet). The Miami Heat, with superstars Shaquille O'Neal and Dwayne Wade in the fold, has the second best odds at 11/2 despite losing in this year's Eastern Conference Finals. PinnacleSports.com lists the team-oriented, grind-it-out Detroit Pistons at 7/1 while the run-and-gun Phoenix Suns are 8/1. Other leading contenders for next year's NBA crown include: Indiana Pacers (11/1), Denver Nuggets (13/1), Houston Rockets (17/1) and Dallas Mavericks (19/1). Although Phil Jackson has been reunited with Kobe Bryant in Los Angeles, the Lakers remain short on talent and are in the middle of the pack at 35/1 to win Jackson his tenth championship in 2006. The two teams with the longest odds to emerge as NBA champs next season are the Atlanta Hawks, who own the second pick in Tuesday's NBA draft, and the Charlotte Bobcats, who will be entering only their second season in the league.
