Pennsylvania Reaping in Powerball Windfall29 October 2002PENNSYLVANIA – As reported by the Philadelphia Daily News: "We'd call it the best bad bet in Pennsylvania history. "With odds of 120-million-to-one, you really can't call it gambling. You'd stand a much better chance of being run down by a herd of hippos on Broad St. than winning at Powerball. "…Pennsylvania is reaping a windfall since becoming the 22d state to join the multi-state Powerball lottery. We've only been in the game for four months. But revenues are up $39.2 million over the same period last year. "…And it has done so at very little cost to the rest of the state's lottery games. SuperSix revenues are down slightly. But that has been more than offset by Powerball revenues…" |
