PBL Appoints Packer Replacement25 January 2006AUSTRALIA -- As reported by the (Queensland) Courier and Mail: "Media and gaming firm Publishing & Broadcasting Ltd has appointed director Chris Anderson as its deputy chairman, filling a space left by Kerry Packer who died in December. "Executive chairman of PBL James Packer, said Mr Anderson's experience spanned 40 years. "...Mr Anderson, who was appointed to the PBL board in June 2004, spent seven years as Optus chief executive before stepping down in August 2004. "...Since James Packer assumed full control of the PBL empire after the death of his father last month, the company has withdrawn its joint venture bid for Singapore's first casino resort because of burgeoning costs. "...However the company scored a win last week when its joint venture with Betfair UK was awarded a Tasmanian betting exchange licence..." |
