IRELAND – (PRESS RELEASE) -- PaddyPowerPoker.com today announces the opening of online qualification for the Irish Open 2006 – Ireland's first €1 million No Limit Texas Hold Em tournament and Europe's most historic poker event.

Starting on Sunday 6th February, for as little as €10, players can enter daily feeders at PaddyPowerPoker.com to reach a weekly Grand Final and a shot at a package worth €4,500 for the Irish Open.

There are three feeders each day and a Grand Final each Sunday.

The schedule is:

Feeders:

Time: 2pm, 6pm and 9pm Daily

Buy in: $10 + 50cents

Type: Rebuy – 4 levels

Rounds: 8 Minute rounds

Each $103.95 in prize-pool affords one seat in the weekly Grand Final Satellite.

Grand Finals:

Time: 7pm every Sunday

Buy in: $99 + $4.95

Type: Rebuy – 4 levels

Rounds: 15 minute rounds

One package is guaranteed and each additional $4,500 affords and additional package.

The highest placed online qualifier from PaddyPowerPoker.com at the Irish Open will also win a fabulous $12,500 package to the main event at 2006 World Series of Poker.

History

The Irish Open – which begins on Saturday 15th April at 4pm in Jurys Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin - celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2006. It is Europe's oldest poker tournament and second in the world only to the World Series of Poker.

Legendary Irish bookmaker Terry Rogers started the event with his friend and colleague Liam Flood in 1981. Although Terry passed away in 1999 Liam, a world class player and tournament director of international renown, continues his involvement with this prestigious tournament. Over the years the Irish Open has attracted many of the legends of poker including Stu Ungar, Amarillo Slim and Doyle Brunson.
