Oklahoma Company Testing Missouri Waters15 November 2002MISSOURI – As reported by the Lake Sun Leader: "The president of an Oklahoma company interested in bringing gambling to Miller County says the proposal is in the hands of state and county officials. "Gary Pritchlyn says he doesn't have a clue if Missouri state and county officials will pursue development of a land-based casino operated by Native Americans. "Pritchlyn, an attorney, heads up an Oklahoma-based company called Indian Territory Gaming, Inc. "…The company does not currently represent an Indian group interested in the venture, but would seek support from one of a number of tribal organizations if it looked like state and county officials were behind the proposal. "Pritchlyn, who serves as president of the company, says a meeting last week with Miller County officials and representatives of a number of lake area interests was held to measure the level of interest. "…Pritchlyn said it would be logical for the development company to invite the Osage Indian tribe out of Oklahoma to get involved in the project, if it becomes a reality. He said the historical tie of the Osage tribe to the lake area would make it a natural fit. "Miller County Commissioner Dave Whittle said he has not made up his mind one way or another on whether he believes the proposal would be a good move for the county. Whittle said Miller County was not asked to provide any financial incentive. "…Pritchlyn admitted that there a number of steps that would have to be followed to bring an Indian-based gambling operation to Miller County. "…Pritchlyn said his company envisions a 50,000-square-foot facility that would generate more than $100 million a year in profits and create about 1,000 new jobs…" |
