NYRA receives another extension22 January 2008ALBANY, New York -- As reported by the Albany Times-Union: "The New York Racing Association received a second temporary extension from the state to run races at Aqueduct, state officials said Monday. "The latest extension, to Feb. 13, should be the last, said Steve Newman, chairman of the NYRA oversight board. "The extension buys more time for the Legislature and Gov. Eliot Spitzer's aides to negotiate a potential long-term extension for NYRA. The association's franchise ended Dec. 31 but was extended to Jan. 23 after state leaders failed to agree on a long-term plan for the Aqueduct, Belmont Park and Saratoga tracks..."
