NGA Tour Coming Back to Memphis

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – (Press Release) -- March 26, 2001 -- For the third year in a row, the National Golf Association Tour, presented by Naturally Fresh Foods, is coming to The Club at North Creek in Southaven, Mississippi for the Gold Strike Casino Classic at North Creek presented in part by local Mid-South Chrysler Dealers, April 16-22, 2001 benefiting The Child Advocacy Center.

(Dates: April 16-22, April 17th- Pairings Party (held at Gold Strike), April 18th- Pro Am- 12:30 Shot Gun Start, April 19th-21st (Tournament Play), April 22nd (Finals & Awards Ceremony held at Northcreek)

``We're very excited to have the NGA Tour back for a 3rd year in a row.'' Said Allan Hickam, Head Golf Professional at North Creek. ``The golf course was in good condition last year, and it'll be in even better shape this time around.''

``We are looking forward to coming back to North Creek, Southaven and the Memphis area. Allan and his staff do a wonderful job. The community really gets behind the tournament, and the golf course just keeps getting better every year,'' said NGA Tour President Robin L. Waters, PGA. ``With Gold Strike Casino Resort on board again, I expect another great tournament.''

The NGA Tour is the 3rd largest men's 72-hole professional golf tour in the country behind the PGA and Buy.com Tours, and boasts alumni like two time U.S. Open winner Lee Janzen, British Open and PGA Champion John Daly, as well as British Open winner Tom Lehman, Jim Furyk, David Toms, Stewart Cink, and Franklin Langham to name just a few. The NGA Tour has helped more than 100 professionals acquire their PGA, Senior PGA, and Buy.com cards. In fact, a full one third of the players (33%) who earned their 2001 PGA Tour card, started their careers on the NGA/Hooters Tour.
