New Technology to Spur British Gambling13 March 2002UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by ZDNet: "New technology will boost gambling over the coming decade in the United Kingdom, which already has the greatest concentration of gamblers of any country in the world, according to a new study. "Three-quarters of the UK population currently take part in some form of gambling, said a study released on Tuesday by research firm Screen Digest and Dutch bank ABN Amro. "In the future, a greater percentage of Britons will place their bets on a variety of gadgets from mobile phones to desktop computers, experts have predicted. "…The forecast is good news for a variety of firms, ranging from satellite television operator BSkyB to bookmaker Ladbrokes, keen on exploiting new technologies to allow consumers to wager wherever and whenever they want.
