"The proposed tri-state game would be aimed at combining player pools to provide bigger jackpots than each state can now provide on its own, Arizona Lottery Director Geoffrey Gonsher said last week. "The proposed tri-state game comes as Arizona and other states try to preserve player interest in their own games in the face of increasing competition for gambling dollars and other factors. "Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico all participate in the multistate Powerball, a numbers game with record jackpots reaching into the hundreds of millions of dollars. "..The tri-state game's jackpot conceivably could get as big as $20 million if unclaimed on successive drawings, but it would not be in the same league with Powerball and its gigantic jackpots, Gonsher said…" |
