New Manager Chosen for Milwaukee Tribal Casino

24 June 2002

MILWAUKEE – (Press Release) --The Forest County Potawatomi tribal council has chosen a quiet leader from its own ranks to take over the Potawatomi Bingo & Casino facility near downtown Milwaukee.

"Michael Goodrich previously was general manager at the Potawatomi Bingo & Northern Lights Casino in Carter.

"When Goodrich interviewed for the general manager's job at Potawatomi Bingo & Casino in Milwaukee's Menomonee River Valley, the tribal council wondered if he would have trouble adjusting to life in the city after spending more than 10 years in rural northern Wisconsin.

"…Goodrich knows what to expect from the city. He was born in Chicago and worked in Boston as a young man.

"…Goodrich has worked in gaming for 10 years. He first job at Northern Lights Casino was dealing blackjack. He eventually became a blackjack shift manager, worked in cash operations and later was promoted to assistant general manager. He was the general manager of the Northern Lights Casino for four years.

"…As general manager of Potawatomi Bingo & Casino, Goodrich is responsible for ensuring the entertainment complex follows federal, state and tribal regulations for Native American casinos.

"…The Milwaukee gaming operation has more than 1,500 employees and 75,000 square feet. Potawatomi Bingo & Casino in Milwaukee is the third-largest in the state and Potawatomi Bingo & Northern Lights Casino in Carter ranks 13th, according to The Business Journal's Book of Lists.

"Goodrich replaces Ruth Pemma as general manager of the Milwaukee bingo and casino facility. She has taken a new job with the tribe in Forest County.

"…There are always discussions about how to expand the 3-year-old Potawatomi Bingo & Casino and make better use of the limited space in the Menomonee Valley. Goodrich has ideas, but will wait until he's been in the job for a few months before making any changes…"
