New Malaysia Gaming Centre 'Quietly' Coming Up29 April 2003MALAYSIA – As reported by the Malay Mail: ``The construction of Malaysia's second 'Genting' gaming centre at Colmar Tropicale, Bukit Tinggi Resort in Pahang, which is set to open next month, has been a rather low-key and quiet affair. ``The Bukit Tinggi Resort Bhd, a subsidiary of the Berjaya group of companies, is a state-of-the-art gaming centre at its French-themed resort. ``…It was reported in February that the group's general manager, Teh Ming Wah, confirmed Bukit Tinggi Resort Bhd had planned to spend as much as RM50 million to develop the gaming centre, which will make it the second biggest player in the slot machine business after Genting Highlands. ``The gaming centre will house 250 fully-computerised slot machines and Bukit Tinggi had received approval from the Federal Government last year to operate gaming machines there. ``Genting Highlands casino is currently the biggest player in the market, operating about 3,000 slot machines besides a host of other gambling games…" |
