Murder Victim Had Casino Debts

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – As reported by the Vancouver Province: "A man who was found dead along with his wife in his burned out Vancouver home was a big loser at the casino.

"Police sources estimate Shyh-Shiang Tung's losses could amount to $1 million.

"Based on autopsy information, police said yesterday that they believe Tung's wife, Ming-Hsiu Pan, was murdered before their Battison Street home was set on fire with gasoline last Tuesday.

"Tung lost tens of thousands of dollars a day playing baccarat at the Gateway Casino on Dominion Street, a casino regular said.

"…Tung carried wads of cash and it would not be unusual for him to bet $500 at every available slot at the table, [according to the casino regular].

"…`He would have no expression on his face, win or lose,' the woman added…"
