Mulvane casino won't be endorsed

"The commission's attorney on gambling issues, David Cooper, said Tuesday the county followed a fair and open process before endorsing two casino proposals for the Wellington exit of the Kansas Turnpike on Dec. 12, and won't consider making any more endorsements.

"... They rejected proposals for the Mulvane exit by Harrah's Entertainment-Sumner Gaming and Resorts, and MGM Mirage-Foxwoods Development-Chisholm Creek Ventures.

"The rejected groups have until March 28 to obtain local government endorsements before contracts must be signed with the Kansas Lottery.

"The Mulvane City Council will meet tonight to consider the Harrah's proposal for a possible endorsement..."
