Multistate Powerball Lottery Starts Rolling Today for Coloradans2 August 2001COLORADO –– As reported by the Rocky Mountain News: "Coloradans will join residents of 21 other states today in playing Powerball, a multistate lottery with jackpots capable of reaching hundreds of millions of dollars. "The odds of actually winning all that dough: A little grim, at about one in 80 million. "…Tickets cost $1 and are available anywhere Lotto and Cash 5 tickets are sold. "Winning numbers are drawn every Wednesday and Saturday night, usually in Des Moines, Iowa. "Winning numbers will also be available at any Powerball retailer, and on the Colorado Lottery website. "…Powerball jackpots are estimates or `floating jackpots,' which means prize amounts depend on actual sales. "…Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs, filed a motion for a preliminary injunction to block Powerball.
