Mississippi Coast Casinos Have Strong October21 November 2002MISSISSIPPI – As reported by the Mississippi Sun Herald: "Coast casinos won $93.2 million in October, up by nearly 3 percent from October 2001, despite Treasure Bay Casino being closed for almost two weeks and Hurricane Lili shutting down business at all casinos for a day. "In the most competitive casino market in the state, the Mississippi River counties, October casino winnings were up 5 percent, reaching $128.5 million. "Webster Franklin, executive director of the Tunica Convention & Visitors Bureau, said publicity from the market's 10th anniversary and a marketing push into Nashville, Tenn., helped his region have a strong month. "…Casino winnings statewide were $221.7 million in October, a 4 percent increase compared to $212.8 million in October 2001…" |
