MGM Grand Leads Detroit in Revenues19 December 2001DETROIT, Michigan -- Dec. 19, 2001 -- As reported by the Associated Press: ``Revenues at the city's casinos last month increased from the same period a year ago, the Michigan Gaming Control Board reported. ``The total adjusted gross revenues for the three casinos was $91.3 million last month, up from $69.2 million in November 2000, when Greektown Casino opened. ``MGM Grand Detroit Casino brought in the most money last month, maintaining a lead it has held continuously since September. The casino revenue totaled $32.6 million, a 14 percent increase from November 2000. ``MotorCity Casino wasn't far behind with $31.5 million -- up 18 percent. ``Greektown Casino took in $27.2 million last month. Gamblers there spent $13.6 million in November 2000 after the casino opened Nov. 10. ``...Casino officials wouldn't comment on whether tighter border security since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks has prompted gamblers to visit the Detroit casinos rather than cross the border to visit Casino Windsor in Windsor, Ontario. ``Revenue at the Canadian casino has slumped since the attacks..." |
