Mega Millions Jackpot Grows to Estimated $90 Million21 August 2002ILLINOIS – (Press Release) -- When the six Mega Millions numbers were drawn last night, more than 500,000 tickets became winners. Each of them matched enough numbers to reach one of Mega Millions nine prize levels. However none of them matched all of the six numbers to win the $78 million jackpot. So the jackpot for Friday night's drawing grows to an estimated $90 million. Last night's winning numbers were 02-13-20-23-43 and The Mega Ball was 06. Of those half million winning tickets, six came extremely close to winning the jackpot. They matched the first five numbers and only missed the Gold Mega Ball number to win $175,000. Two of those tickets were sold in Michigan, and one each in Illinois, Massachusetts, New York and Ohio. The total amount won by Mega Millions players last night is $3,584,008. Mega Millions is played in nine states: Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Virginia. Officials in Washington State have announced plans to join the fun in September. Mega Millions drawings are held Tuesday and Friday nights at 11:00 PM eastern time. |
