Massachusetts Keno a Good Bet28 March 2003MASSACHUSETTS – As reported by the Boston Herald: "A tweak to Keno is proving a winning bet for state coffers, boosting the Lottery's weekly take on the popular game by $1.6 million, officials said yesterday. "Keno sales are up 12 percent since the first of this month, when state Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill shortened the wait between games from five minutes to four. "Before the change, the Lottery earned $12.9 million on the popular high-speed numbers game during an average week. That weekly average is now $14.5 million. "Giving bettors more chances to play is expected to translate into an extra $35 million a year in Lottery payouts to cities and towns…" |
