Man Steps Forward as One of California Lottery Winners

19 February 2002

CALIFORNIA – As reported by the KPIX News: "Nestled in the midst of San Mateo County's rolling green hills, the green rolled in for California's newest Super Lotto jackpot millionaire.

"…The 57-year-old [Andy]Kampe bought his winning ticket at Albertson's in Half Moon Bay. He spent $20 dollars on Friday, all on quick-picks. He didn't even watch the numbers drawn Saturday night.

"…Kampe's ticket is one of three that hit the record-setting jackpot. Each holder will receive a lump sum of $64.3 million dollars before taxes. But so far the other two winners haven't stepped forward.

"So what are the Kampes going to do with their newfound wealth?

"`I think we're going to go on vacation,' said Amanda Kampe, Andy's daughter. `And I want a Toyota Land Cruiser.'

"…As for Andy, he's a self-employed engineer. He plans to fire himself."
