Malaysia Stops Issuing Casino Licenses

MALAYSIA -- As reported by the Malaysian Star: " The Government has stopped issuing casino licences and Bukit Tinggi Resort has been directed to stop abusing its permit issued only for gaming machines.

"`We don't give any more licence for casino. There is no casino in Bukit Tinggi,' Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad said Tuesday.

"Dr Mahathir, who is also Finance Minister, said the government had issued the licence only for the slot machines.

"...`Since Bukit Tinggi has a club, we give them licence for (the) club. But I think they may have abused the licence.'..."
