Louisiana Casinos November Winnings Increased18 December 2001BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – Dec. 18, 2001 -- As reported by the Associated Press: "Louisiana's state-licensed casinos began to rebound in November as winnings from gamblers increased nearly 7 percent from October and 16 percent from the same period last year. "…The state's 14 riverboat casinos won $132.7 million last month, up 7.3 percent from October's winnings of $123.7 million and 17.5 percent from its winnings during the same month a year earlier, the state police told the Louisiana Gaming Control Board on Tuesday. "At the same time, Harrah's land-based casino in New Orleans edged slightly up in its take to $20.6 million from October's $20.3 million in winnings. "…The total take for the state-licensed casinos was $153.4 million, up from October's tally of $144 million. "Most of the increase was in the Shreveport/Bossier market, where the five riverboats won $65.7 million from gamblers, a 9.7 percent increase from October and 23.7 percent increase from the same month a year earlier…" |
