Lotto Scammer Pays for Police Overtime7 April 2004CLEVELAND – As reported by United Press International: ``An Ohio woman who tried to scam a $162 million winning lotto ticket gave police a big check to cover overtime fees caused by her crime. ``Elecia Battle, 41, handed South Euclid police a $5,596 check Tuesday for the cost of police overtime needed to investigate a bogus claim that she lost a lottery ticket worth $162 million, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Wednesday. ``Battle pleaded no contest Tuesday to a charge of falsification, a misdemeanor, for filing a false police report…" |
