Lawyer Fights California Tribal Casino Plan12 September 2002CALIFORNIA – As reported by the Sacramento Business Journal: "Roseville's city attorney said he will recommend that the city appeal Tuesday's ruling by a federal judge that clears the way for construction of an Indian gaming casino in Placer County. "Mark Doane said he will make the recommendation next Wednesday when the City Council meets in closed session to discuss the ruling. "The city of Roseville is among the plaintiffs in a lawsuit aimed at stopping a local Native American tribe from building a massive casino on 49 acres of undeveloped land between Roseville and Lincoln. "The suit claims that the federal government failed to consider the negative effects the casino would have on surrounding communities when it approved the project. "In his ruling Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Emmet Sullivan said that claim was without merit and dismissed the lawsuit…" |
