Las Vegas Man Wins $4.1 Million Progressive Slot Jackpot

18 November 2002

LAS VEGAS – (Press Release) -- A Las Vegas man who said he had been playing Quartermania for months hit it big to the tune of $4.1 million this morning at the Orleans Casino. IGT (NYSE: IGT), the company which operates the state-wide progressive system, has been running ads saying that the Quartermania game was statistically overdue and the winner, who asked to remain anonymous, said he set out to win the jackpot. He said that it was his routine to play the same machine at the Orleans -- and it was at this machine where his persistence paid off.

Two other MegaJackpots systems, Megabucks and Jeopardy Slots, are also statistically overdue for a jackpot (although actual jackpots occur randomly.) As of November 17, Megabucks, a three-coin dollar game, is at $19,640,500 and Jeopardy, a three-coin quarter game, is $1,872,500.

Today's $4,125,723 jackpot is the largest ever on Quartermania; the previous record was $3.7 million won in 1997. Quartermania was the world's second MegaJackpots system; only Megabucks has been around longer.

Quartermania is one of 20 Nevada MegaJackpots systems operated by IGT, the world leader in the manufacturing of gaming machines and proprietary software for progressive gaming systems. All IGT MegaJackpots top awards are paid in annual installments upon verification, except MegaJackpots Instant Winners Jackpots and Rapid Riches MegaJackpots awards, which are paid in their entirety upon verification.
