Ladbrokes and Orbis Sign Contract

29 November 2001

LONDON -- (Press Release) -- Ladbrokes, the world's largest bookmaker, has chosen Orbis (an NDS Group plc company NASDAQ/NASDAQ Europe: NNDS), the world's leading provider of interactive betting technology, to supply the software for its newly expanded 200-seat UK telephone betting call centre.

Ladbrokes currently uses Orbis' OpenBet Interactive Gambling System across a number of products in its e-gaming portfolio, including Internet, WAP and various digital TV platforms.

Whilst repatriating its call centre to the UK from Gibraltar following the abolition of betting tax last month, Ladbrokes took the opportunity to replace its existing call centre software and to fully integrate the telephone operation with the existing OpenBet system. At the same time they have expanded the call centre capacity to meet the growing demand from telephone customers following the tax changes.

Nick Rust, commercial director at Ladbrokes explains: ``Orbis has already proved its capacity as a key strategic partner for Ladbrokes and we believe that the new OpenBet telephone betting system will significantly reduce our costs - as well as facilitate an increased ability to market to our own customer base. For our customers, betting with Ladbrokes from one single account across all our platforms will now become a reality. And as the world's largest bookmaker, having our operations running on one OpenBet system means we can manage liabilities more effectively, putting us in a stronger position to maximise our margins.''

Charles Malir, marketing director at Orbis adds: ``We are delighted that we are helping to keep Ladbrokes in front of the game. Orbis' dominance in the provision of interactive betting technology is due to the fact that we offer a scaleable, secure and robust platform - capable of handling millions of bets each day from hundreds of thousands of users. OpenBet also continues to prove itself as a flexible system that can be easily integrated to other parts of a bookmaker's business.''
