Karl Fenton joins PKR

16 June 2009

LONDON, England -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- PKR.com community favourite and PKR Live II main event winner Karl 'discomonkey' Fenton has put pen to paper to become the seventh member of the recently formed Team PKR Pro.

Hailing from Caistor in the UK, Fenton's story is a true poker fairytale that's seen him rise from small stakes grinder to high stakes tournament player in just a matter of months. Previously working towards a degree in finance, Fenton has recently decided to take a break from his studies to pursue a full-time poker career.

His ascent to poker's upper echelons has been astonishing. Following a breakthrough win in the PKR Sunday Classic in November 2008 that netted him $7,500, Fenton has experienced a rush of results that has seen him rack up more than $200,000 in online tournament winnings in just seven months. Away from the computer he's been just as hot, with a final table at a GUKPT Walsall side event, and two more FTs at PKR Live II, where he went on to win the Main Event for $20,000.

The fairytale continues for Fenton who has already jetted off to Las Vegas to assume his new role as a Team PKR Pro and to attempt to bring home a World Series bracelet. He said, "Quite honestly the first career I have ever been able to see myself making a real success out of was poker. It is something I have a deep interest in and something I have begun to make work. Hopefully this opportunity with PKR will prove to be the springboard to a lifetime of success in the game. Why not start in Vegas?"

Team PKR Pro have started strongly at this year's World Series of Poker with James 'james666' Sudworth finishing seventh in event #19 for $54,777, and team members Kai 'KingKai84' Paulsen and Andrew 'golfpro669' Teng also recording cashes.
