Judge Dismisses Lawsuit Against Park Place

LOS ANGELES, California – As reported by Reuters: "A New York judge on Thursday dismissed a racetrack owner's suit seeking $6.3 billion in damages from casino operator Park Place Entertainment Inc. (NYSE:PPE) for allegedly scuttling its plans to build a casino at the track

"U.S. District Court Judge Colleen McMahon granted Park Place's request for summary judgment in dismissing the case brought by Catskill Development LLC, Monticello Raceway Development Co. LLC and Mohawk Management LLC.

"In their suit, the plaintiffs alleged that Park Place interfered with their plans to build a casino at the Monticello Raceway in conjunction with the St. Regis Mohawk native American tribe.

"The plaintiffs took their action after the Mohawks abandoned previous plans to develop a $500 million casino at the track and instead entered into a deal last year with Park Place, owner of Caesars Palace and Bally's in Las Vegas…"
