Irish Racing to Resume April 16 After Disease-Related Suspension4 April 2001IRELAND – April 4, 2001 – As reported by the Associated Press: ``Horse racing is set to resume in Ireland on April 16 after being suspended for more than a month because of the foot and mouth outbreak sweeping Britain. ``The Irish Minister for Agriculture, Joe Walsh, said Wednesday that racing would resume on a limited basis with a meet on the flat at Leopardstown on April 16. The first jumps card will take place at Ballinrobe three days later. ``Although Irish trained horses are set to run at Saturday's prestigious Grand National meet at Liverpool, England, racing in the Republic has been on hold since Feb. 27…" |
