Iowa Casino Boasts Record-Setting Day

25 February 2002

IOWA – As reported by the Iowa Telegraph Herald: "The Dubuque Greyhound Park & Casino recently posted its best slot showing in the casino's six-year history.

"At the Dubuque Racing Association's monthly meeting, Dubuque Greyhound Park & Casino manager Bruce Wentworth reported that coin-in, or the amount of coins put through the casino's slot machines, topped $3.061 million on Feb. 16.

"…Saturday's coin-in total broke the previous record - set on July 31, 1999 - by more than $31,000.

"…Wentworth credited the unseasonably warm weather for the brisk performance.

"…The gambling establishment's pari-mutuel side also has received a boost in recent months. Wentworth told DRA board members that simulcast racing revenue at the track was up 20 percent over the past two months.

"…`I'd expect that we're going to have a good summer,' Wentworth said."
