Intertops.com Announces Odds On 2000 NBA Draft

Faced with shrinking ratings and growing fan indifference, team's today are devoting vast resources in the hope of landing the next superstar that can boost attendance and increase franchise revenues. Recognizing the importance the NBA draft has on the future of a franchise, Intertops.com today released odds on which player will be selected first in this NBA draft.

The Internet's first and largest sports betting site, Intertops.com has listed Kenyon Martin, Senior forward, Cincinnati, the heavy favorite to be announced as the first overall selection of the 2000 NBA player draft at 1/2 odds (i.e., win $1 for every $2 bet).

The recipient of the Wooden Award recognizing the NCAA men's basketball player of the year, Martin has become the consensus among scouts around the league as the best player in the draft despite overcoming a season-ending leg injury that kept him out of the NCAA tournament.

Intertops.com has also listed individual odds for the two other players vying to have their name called first by Commissioner David Stern on June 28th. Chris Mihm, Junior Center, Texas -- a fundamentally-sound big man who is the best center available in the draft -- has been listed at 5/2 odds to be the first selection. Another candidate to be selected first overall in the draft is Stromile Swift, Sophomore Forward, LSU, who Intertops.com lists at 6/1 odds.

All other players entered in the 2000 NBA Draft not mentioned have been included in ``the Field'' currently listed at 10/1 odds. The 2000 NBA Draft number 1 overall selection bet is available through June 27, 2000 -- one day before the draft will take place. All odds are subject to change.
