Industry Workers File Unemployment Claims at Special Sessions9 July 2000LANCASTER, SOUTH CAROLINA -- July 9, 2000 - As reported by Associated Press: "While State Law Enforcement Agents were gearing up to search for and seize contraband video gambling machines, employees of the outlawed industry were attending a special session to help them find new jobs. "Nearly 50 former video gambling business employees went to the Lancaster National Guard armory Saturday to file unemployment claims with the state Employment Security Commission. "…Employment Security Commission spokesman Clark Newsom said about 850 unemployment claims had been filed by Friday for former gambling machine workers in South Carolina.
