Hong Kong Jockey Club Probes $3.7 Million Payout Blunder1 April 2002HONG KONG –As reported by the Sing Tao: The Jockey Club have launched an investigation into a blunder which has left punters $3.7 million out of pocket. "Jockey Club staff yesterday discovered that a $3,763,450 jackpot carried over from the March 24 meeting was not added to Saturday's Six-Up win bonus. "…After the discovery, the Club revised the dividend and declared that the Six-Up win bonus for the March 30 meeting was $21,451, instead of the $11,356 payout. "The spokesman said he believed human error was the cause of the wrong dividend being paid out to punters. "…The spokesman said the Club would investigate the cause of the mix-up and announce their findings at a later date. "Thirty-four punters, who did not receive the full dividends, have lodged their claims to the Club, the spokesman said. "He said holders of winning tickets who had not collected their winnings could pick up the revised dividend at any of the Club's off-course betting centres or racecourses…" |
