'Hollywood Squares' Slots to Premiere at Harrah's4 April 2001LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- April 4, 2001 -- WMS Gaming Inc. announced today it has signed a pact to premiere its new "Hollywood Squares"-themed slot machine line at Harrah's Entertainment Inc. casinos across the United States. Under the agreement, Harrah's will have the exclusive right to operate Hollywood Squares slots for a 60-day period following its approval in each jurisdiction. The introduction will be accompanied by a "comprehensive, national multi-media marketing campaign." Afterwards, WMS will have the ability to place the slots in competing casinos. Harrah's has agreed to install a "significant number" of Hollywood Squares slots, the companies said in a joint statement. Further financial details weren't disclosed. WMS said it expects to submit the slot for approval before various regulatory agencies within six months, and hopes to begin placing Hollywood Squares slots in Harrah's properties throughout North America this fall. The slot machine line is based on the syndicated TV game show "Hollywood Squares," now hosted by actress Whoopi Goldberg. The slot will feature Goldberg's likeness and voice. |
