Hoffa to Aid Sign-Up of Casino Workers

ONTARIO – As reported by the Toronto Star: ``Teamsters heavyweight James P. Hoffa will be in Orillia today to help organize some of the more than 3,000 workers at Casino Rama

``Hoffa, president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters union, is fulfilling a promise he made in January to disgruntled casino workers, who have seen several failed organizing drives by various unions, Local 938 president Larry McDonald said.

```We got the biggest name coming. It isn't a rumour. I can confirm that,' McDonald said, adding that having Hoffa there will give the drive a huge boost.

``…The casino workers are expected to vote tomorrow on whether to join the union.

``McDonald said Hoffa, on behalf of the Ontario government and native bands, is to hold a 1 p.m. press conference across from the popular casino, which is operated by Penn National Gaming Inc..."
