Hitting the jackpot21 February 2003Two Detriot casino employees have created a web site to keep track of the biggest jackpots across the US. Daniel Brautman, a Greektown table games manager serves as president of bestjackpots.com while Steve Johnston, a Greektown table games supervisor is vice president of the Internet site. According to Brautman, the company updates information on its free web site daily. The site had 140,000 hits last month. 300 casinos submit jackpot data, top giveaways, entertainment and archives of past jackpot winners. From the bestjackpots.com home page, consumers can search by region, casino name, entertainment and public tournaments. Jackpots are categorized by poker, Caribbean Stud and various slot denominations. The site has met with criticism that it doesn''t provide all the jackpot information required. Video poker jackpots have been ommited since, as Brautman explains, those are included in the slot section and, since they''re won frequently, rarely get high enough to warrant mention. The site currently provides free advertizing for casinos but intends to start charging a subscription fee in the third quarter. The monthly cost will range from US$19 to US$199. |
