High Rollers Hurt Stanley 's Profits

14 May 2004

UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the UK Financial Times: "Stanley Leisure has warned that an extended winning streak by high-rolling punters at its London casinos could dent profits this year.

"Shares in the UK's biggest gaming and betting operator fell 7 per cent to 434p in early trading but recovered to 447p.

"Stanley said the significant pay-outs it made to lucky gamblers at its upmarket Crockfords casino at the beginning of this year had continued into the second half and had also extended to its Colony Club casino.

"It also signalled that it may be unable to collect an outstanding £3m of debt from less successful betters before it releases its preliminary results on July 21.
